What Should I Look For in a Bathroom Door Handle that Locks Easily from Both Sides?

I'm trying to replace the door handle in my bathroom with one that locks on both sides easily. Currently, it has a turn lock on the inside, but I've noticed I can open it from the outside using a thin object like a credit card in an emergency. Since my bedroom door also needs a lock and my cat has figured out how to open standard doors, I want a lock type that she can't easily manipulate. Any suggestions on keywords or specific types of handles that fit this description?

Honestly, a simple knob might be your best bet. If your cat can figure out how to unlock a knob, though, we're all doomed! Just make sure whatever you choose can really fool her for now.

Haha, right? I think knobs may slow her down a bit, but they'll have their challenges too!

Definitely! Just remember to keep your cat's cleverness in mind when choosing.

You could try installing the handle upside down so it requires effort to pull up instead of down. It's a neat trick to make it harder for pets to open it!

That's a clever idea! I’ll definitely check if that works with my current handle.

Have you looked into childproof door knob covers? They come in handy for cats too! Or what about a push-button lock? Some allow for easy access from both sides without being too complex.

A privacy lock set would work for you. You may not find one that locks from both sides with a key, but installing two knobs might be a good workaround. Just be mindful of how they latch when you install them!

Where can I find those privacy knobs you mentioned?
