Can I Use Ceramic or Porcelain Tiles for My Patio?

Hey folks! I'm looking for some advice on creating a patio with outdoor ceramic or porcelain tiles. I've seen a lot of mixed opinions on this, so I want to know if it's feasible to use these tiles with polymeric sand in between them, given that I have a solid foundation. Just to clarify, I'm not interested in using regular pavers—I've looked into that option too. Thanks in advance for your help!

Using ceramic or porcelain tiles for a patio can be tricky, as they might crack. However, if you have some spare tiles lying around, why not give it a try? Would be cool to see how it turns out!

Haha, they’re almost free, so that’s a good point!

I’ve heard that some places have strict regulations on renovations, so check yours out. Tiles can hold up well, but be prepared for occasional repairs, especially in areas with freeze and thaw cycles.

In my experience, a lot of people in my area install tiles even with harsh weather. They do pretty well, but you should expect some maintenance since a few tiles might pop off over time. It's worth considering that if your budget allows for it!
