I'm working on insulating the walls of my older home, which currently has no insulation or air sealing and has a noticeable breeze in some stud cavities. I've already insulated the attic a bit, which helped. Now, I'm curious about whether to go with spray foam or rockwool along with a vapor barrier for the walls. I've seen mixed opinions on spray foam—many mention issues like off-gassing, flammability, and difficulty in renovations. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

If you decide to go with rockwool, don’t forget about air sealing! Insulation is just part of the solution, especially in older homes. What do you plan on using for that?
Consider using foam board and some spray foam in cans for the draftiest spots first. You could even start with .5" foam board and then top it off with rockwool. It might be a bit pricier, but it could really improve those leaky gaps!
That sounds like a solid plan! There is a tricky area around my closet that could benefit from this approach.
I would recommend rockwool! It's great for insulation and really shines when it comes to soundproofing. Plus, it's more eco-friendly than spray foam. Definitely worth considering!
Thanks for sharing! I also appreciate that it’s better for the environment.

I was thinking about putting a vapor barrier on the warm side and eventually removing the siding to wrap the house. Does that sound reasonable?
