I impulsively bought 15 bags of garden soil on sale at Home Depot – 5 bags for $10! I know it's not potting soil and is mostly meant to improve existing soil. I practice sheet-mulching, so I don't disturb the soil much aside from planting young plants. I'm in NW GA (zone 7b), where we deal with a lot of red clay. How can I use this garden soil? Should I mix it in when planting my sprouts or can I use it for larger pots? What are some creative ways I can utilize all of this?

You actually made a smart buy! You might have to amend it a bit, but with the right additions, you can create a nutrient-rich medium for your plants, especially in clay-heavy areas like ours.
If everything else fails, don’t hesitate to pass it along to neighbors or local gardens! They might appreciate the extra soil. Alternatively, layering it beneath mulch could be another effective use.
You can absolutely use it for potting! Just be sure to mix in some perlite and peat for better texture. That way, it won’t burn your plants. I did this with some bags, and it saved me a lot of cash compared to buying pre-made potting mix!
You could also use it to level out low spots in your yard! Just mix it with some sand to make it easier to spread. I've tried this and it works wonders.
I recommend checking the composition of your garden soil because it varies. In my area, it’s usually a mix of composted materials. I use it mainly as a top dressing for native soil—let the worms do the mixing! Just remember, avoid those with slow-release fertilizers if you can; they can cause long-term pollution issues.
Good tip! I always try to sift out those little pellets myself.
You can definitely use that garden soil in various ways! I like to mix it with perlite to avoid it sinking in pots. This year, I added some on top of my garden plot and mixed it with perlite and plant food before planting. It's also great as a top layer for compost when using sheet-mulching. Embrace the process and see what works best for you!
That's the spirit! Just toss it all in and see how it goes! I do the same thing.
Funny you say that! I'm all about that 'ignorant gardening' approach too!

I added some sand to my mixture too. It helped loosen things up!
