Why Does My Son’s Toy Cut Out When Playing Music?

I'm working on fixing my son's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer toy, but the sound cuts out less than a second after the song starts playing. I've tried it with a different speaker, and the same thing happens. I'm pretty new to fixing electronics—I can recognize the 555 timer, but I'm not sure why this issue is occurring. Any advice would be really helpful!

Have you thought about replacing the battery? Sometimes that’s all it takes to fix these toys since they can be pretty sensitive to power.

Yeah, if replacing the battery doesn't work, it might be tough to fix. A lot of these toys are made with cheaper parts, and most of the components are often just on a single chip.

I'd suggest checking the wiring inside. Sometimes the wires can get damaged—try cutting, stripping, and resoldering them. Also, look for any cold solder joints or broken traces, as they can cause similar issues.
