Looking for Temporary Rain Covers for My ADUs – Suggestions?

I have a home that includes a detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and an upstairs ADU. The main unit has a lovely porch, but unfortunately, the other two units are exposed to the rain. I'm seeking a temporary cover solution for the rainy season that can be easily set up when it rains and taken down on sunny days to allow sunlight in. I plan to invest in a permanent covering later when I have the budget. I'm considering options like an awning or umbrella. However, any attachment to the house requires a permit, proper flashing, and an aesthetic blend with the home's architectural style. I'm looking for robust yet temporary solutions; any ideas?

If you're thinking about a temporary awning, you might want to check out some of the portable options available. They can provide decent coverage without the hassle of permits. Just make sure to anchor it well to withstand strong winds. Keep in mind that some of the sturdier awnings will cost about the same as something permanent, so it's worth considering your long-term plans.
