Can I Swap Anvils on My M12 Impact Wrench from 3/8″ to 1/2″?

Hey folks! I recently picked up a Gen 2 M12 impact wrench with a 3/8" anvil because it was on sale and came with a full kit at the same price as a 1/2" bare tool. I'm curious if there's a way to switch out the anvil from the 3/8" to a 1/2". Any insights?

Unfortunately, switching the anvils isn't easy at all. You'll likely need to source a bunch of parts and it could turn into a real hassle. Unless there's a specific need for a 1/2" in your workflow, I’d suggest just hanging onto the 3/8" and maybe picking up a second 1/2" wrench later. They do come in handy!

That's kind of what I'm leaning towards too. I'm just gonna wait for a 1/2" bare tool deal. The 3/8" was just too good to pass up! Plus, I'm already set with my SAE and metric packouts for it.

Just curious, what’s your main reason for wanting a 1/2" instead? From what I’ve heard, during tests by Torque Test Channel on YouTube, the 3/8" actually performed better than the 1/2" in terms of torque, so you might not be missing out. Just something to think about!

I actually caught that video too! Super interesting. I do have a ton of half inch sockets and just prefer sticking with that size, but yeah, too late now since I bought the packout set. ?
