How Can I Fix My Vinyl Flooring Without Breaking the Bank?

I need some advice on fixing my vinyl flooring. We bought our house in 2022 and spent around $3,000 to have it installed after tearing up old tile and carpet. Now, just three years later, the flooring looks like it's on the verge of coming up. I have a box of the leftover planks from the job in my garage, and I'm wondering if I could just glue them down with Gorilla Wood Glue. Also, I'm starting to suspect this might be a foundation issue since many of the planks are buckled. Did the installer do a poor job, or is there something else going on? I'm pretty handy, but I'm not really experienced with flooring. Any advice would be appreciated!

You can actually replace individual vinyl planks if they’re buckled but not damaged. There are plenty of tutorial videos out there that can walk you through the process. If you ever need to reattach ones that aren’t chipped, using super glue might work better than regular glue.

Oh that’s a relief to hear. I wasn’t sure if they could be replaced individually since they’re so tight together.

Not an expert, but I’d check the edges of the walls to see if the installer left space for expansion. You might need to remove the baseboards or quarter round to check for that gap. If you do find an expansion joint, it could solve your issue. Just Google how to pop the planks back in and you should be set!

I’ll have to google what an expansion joint is then figure it out from there. I appreciate the help!

It looks like the installer may not have left enough space around the walls for the vinyl to expand and contract. Vinyl flooring is designed to be a floating installation, so it shouldn't really be glued down. If you're looking for an easy fix, you might want to consider disassembling the planks and putting them back together correctly. Just a heads up!

Glad I didn’t glue it yet lol thanks for this. I’ll do a little more research now.
