How Long Will It Take to Tile My 500 sqft Apartment After a Flood?

So, my apartment just had a flood and the landlord is switching out the old laminate flooring for tile. The area is under 500 square feet, and they're using 24 inch tiles. I can't clear out all my furniture and appliances, so they'll be working in sections. Plus, they'll need to move the kitchen cabinets since water got under them too. Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate on how many days this installation might take?

Tiling could go down in a day, sure. But considering furniture has to be moved, I’d say give it about a week. For the kitchen cabinets, who knows how long that will take, just be prepared for it to drag out a bit. Hang in there!

It depends on a few things like the skill level of the workers and if they have to remove old flooring first. With everything factored in, you might be looking at about 2-4 days. Just remember, if they find any issues with the subfloor, it could take longer. Plan for at least a week just in case!

That’s a solid point! Always better to overestimate when dealing with repairs.

It sounds like a long process! If they have to grout the tiles, expect it to take at least a week. After laying the tile, you'll need a 48-72 hour waiting period for the grout to cure before you can put your stuff back. I suggest you chat with your landlord about using LVP instead; it installs faster and is less of a hassle!
