Will Stickers Stick to My Workbench Finished with Boiled Linseed Oil and Wax?

I recently finished building a mobile workbench and coated it with a mixture of boiled linseed oil and carnauba/beeswax for protection against glue and other substances. After finishing, I thought it would be cool to add some stickers from breweries and sports teams on the sides. Do you think these stickers will stick well to the finished surface, or will I need to sand off the finish first? I've also noticed several posts about how to deal with sticker residue, so maybe it's not worth the hassle. What do you all think?

A good option might be to attach a sticker board made of unfinished or poly-finished wood or metal instead. That way, you keep your workbench clean and still display those stickers!

That’s a solid idea! I’ll definitely consider adding a sticker board!

From what I've seen, nothing really sticks well to oil or wax finishes for too long. I’ve had decent luck with aerosol spar urethane over hard wax oil, though, and stickers can definitely stick to that. Just keep in mind it might change how the finish feels, but on a workbench, who really cares?

Honestly, you could just try a sticker and see what happens! My gut says they might not stick very well. But if they do, removing them later shouldn’t be a huge issue since it's just a workbench. No harm in testing it out!
