I want to enhance my front mulch beds with new shrubs that will grow thick and lush. The ones I currently have from the builder haven't really taken off, so I'm looking for something more robust. I'm located in North Carolina, and I would love some recommendations!

Before you choose, make sure to check your light exposure and soil type. Are you dealing with sandy, clay, or loamy soil? This can really affect which shrubs will thrive in your area. I think hydrangeas could work since you mentioned you have clay soil and full sun, but consider other options like boxwoods or azaleas, too!
Have you considered hydrangeas? They can get quite large and offer beautiful blooms, which would definitely add some color to your front yard. Plus, they can provide the thickness you're looking for!
That's exactly what I was thinking! They really do fill out nicely when they get going.

Good point! It'll be best to know what the soil is like so you can pick the right plants.
