Best Time and Method to Plant Strawberries in Zone 6B?

Asked By StrawBerryFan99 On

I'm located in zone 6B and I'm excited to plant strawberries this year! I've got plenty of space to grow them. Can anyone advise on the best time to plant? Should I go for bare root plants, already started plants from a store like Tractor Supply, or should I try seeds? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I’d recommend using bare root strawberries! I just planted mine about two weeks ago in 6B, and they seem to be doing great. Good luck!

Where did you get yours? Did you order them online or pick them up in-store? I feel like I might be behind schedule!

Bare roots are definitely the way to go! If you want your plants to really thrive, make sure to pinch off all the flowers during their first year. They'll produce way more in the following years. Not that I took my own advice on that, but it’s solid advice!
