How Can I Get Rid of Acorn Seedlings in My Garden Bed?

Asked By Gardener_4527 On

I made the mistake of adding a bunch of acorn seeds to my garden bed, thinking they would just decompose and contribute to the soil. But now, they're sprouting everywhere! I'm looking for effective ways to eliminate these seedlings so they don't take over my garden.

If the acorn seedlings are still young, you can just pull them up by hand or use a hoe to chop them down. Just keep an eye on them since you’ve got a lot, and do this regularly to prevent them from taking over your garden.

I've been pulling them out too, but it feels like a never-ending battle!

You probably needed to damage the seeds before adding them as an amendment. Now, it seems like you've unintentionally started an oak forest! Your best bet is to keep weeding them out by hand or turn over the entire bed with a hoe and let them die off. You might need to do this a few times to really get rid of them.
