Is $2300 a Legit Price for Kitchen Cabinet Refacing?

I'm considering having my kitchen cabinets refaced and the quote I received is $2300. This price includes the interiors too. The contractor initially quoted $3800, then dropped it to $2800 after mentioning a promotion, and finally stated that he could go as low as $2300 without tax for my 10 x 10 L-shaped kitchen. Another contractor warned me that this might be a scam. Has anyone had experience with similar situations, and do you think this price is too good to be true?

That price seems really low, which could indicate that the contractor is either inexperienced or desperate for work. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I recommend getting at least two more quotes to compare and really do your research on this guy. Ask for previous client references too!

Honestly, it raises some red flags. If he's dropping the price that drastically without hesitation, it could mean the quality of work won't meet expectations. Have you compared this with other quotes? That might give you a clear sense of whether this is a fair deal or not.

I got a quote for $4500 and another for $5500 too. This one just seems way off.

Sounds like you could be getting budget quality for budget prices, especially if you don't have references from previous clients. More often than not, you get what you pay for. I'd check to see if he can show you his past work, that could be a good indicator of what to expect.

Seek out a company that can take your doors off-site for better quality work, that often leads to superior finishes.
