After planting my garlic in the fall, they're doing really well with leaves over 7 inches tall, spaced nicely at 6 inches apart. However, a few garlic cloves didn't sprout, leaving some gaps. I'm considering planting one onion set in those empty spots. Is this a good move? Any other suggestions to fill those spaces?

I went ahead and planted onions in my empty spots. I'll keep you posted on how that turns out! ?
It really depends on when you'd like to harvest the onions. If they're ready around the same time as your garlic, then go for it! But if the onions take longer to mature, you may end up with an awkward mix of empty spaces and onions later in the summer. If you want other options, consider fast-growing crops like radishes that won’t bother the garlic when you harvest.
You could also think about planting bush green beans later on if you still have empty spots. Just don’t stress too much about making everything perfect!
Strawberries actually work pretty well alongside garlic! As for onions, I usually combine them with carrots in my garden and it seems to work out. Just a thought!

Totally! Planting beans where you have gaps later can be a great solution without overthinking it.
