What’s the Best Distance to Plant Peas from a Fence, and Can I Use Both Sides?

I'm curious about planting peas and how far from a fence I should position them. Is it also possible to plant peas on both sides of the fence? Any tips would be appreciated!

I usually plant mine about 3 to 6 inches away from the fence. I’ve found they thrive even when packed in tightly. Plus, I run a trellis down the middle of my rows and plant on both sides, which gives me great harvests. If you space them out right, you can even use the same area for succession planting, like adding radishes or beans after the peas are done!

That's a smart way to maximize space! I love the idea of using a trellis for both peas and then rotating in beans.

You can plant peas pretty close to the fence—like right up against it or even directly underneath it! They don't need a lot of room, and yes, you can definitely plant them on both sides if you can reach.
