I'm trying to remove a long strip of composite countertop that's been siliconed to the wall as a backsplash. The good news is I can access it from all sides since I'm also taking down the cabinets below. I want to avoid breaking the countertop if possible. I know I could cut out the drywall around it but I'd prefer a less destructive approach. Any suggestions?

A good option is to use a small gauge steel wire. Slide it behind the countertop and saw through the silicone. Just remember to take your time and be patient!
If it were me, I'd cut around the silicone with a razor blade and then use a small crowbar to gently pry it away from the wall. Just be careful not to damage the countertop too much!
But won't that leave silicone stuck to the middle? I’m not sure that would help much.
I've had good luck with using wood shims. Tap them in gently to break the drywall paper that the silicone is attached to. If it’s stubborn, a little squirt of water can help weaken the bond as well.

Yes, the wire saw method sounds perfect! I was hoping someone would suggest that.
