Hey everyone! I'm a new homeowner and I've noticed some rodent droppings in my garage, and even bigger pellets in the attic that look like they might belong to a rat. I'm looking for effective ways to deal with this issue because the methods from pest control services like Viking and Western seem pretty generic and haven't helped much. I'm curious about what has worked for others in similar situations. Any tips or practices you can share would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Consider getting a cat! They’re natural hunters and might help keep anything unwanted away. Just remember that having a pet is a commitment, but they can definitely deter rodents. I've had great success with mine!
A female cat can be really effective, they tend to have strong hunting instincts.
Bucket traps are really effective for catching rodents. They're simple to set up and can catch multiple critters at once. Definitely give that a shot!
Totally agree! Bucket traps have worked wonders for me too.
First off, you definitely want to seal any gaps that are 1/4" or larger to prevent rodents from getting in. Use weatherstripping on your garage door, add thresholds, and fill any cracks with stainless steel scrubbers or foam. And don’t skimp on traps—set up a lot of them!
Yes! Sealing entry points is crucial; otherwise, it feels like a losing battle.

Yeah, but isn’t having a pet a lot of responsibility? Just something to think about!
