Quartz vs Granite Countertops: Which One is Better for White Surfaces?

I'm in the market for new kitchen countertops and I'm really torn between quartz and granite. I'm leaning towards quartz because I want to keep my white counters looking clean and avoid stains. I've heard mixed things: quartz is supposed to be non-porous and stain resistant, but I've seen some horror stories about stubborn stains. On the other hand, granite can be porous but can be sealed to protect against stains, although it requires regular maintenance. I'm curious, which one do you think is more stain-resistant: quartz or sealed granite?

I’ve had quartz for 12 years and never had a stain, but my new granite is a different story. Even tiny spills, like drops of vegetable oil, can stain. Sealing helps, but it just gives you more time before you need to clean up. I miss my quartz though, it was so much easier!

From what I've read, sealing granite helps reduce staining, but it’s not foolproof. Personally, I would always choose quartz over granite for durability and easy maintenance.

If you're set on white, go with quartz for sure! Unless you're not much of a cook, quartz really holds up. I once let some tomato sauce sit for a few hours on my quartz counter, and it wiped off with no issue at all.
