Can I Collect Fallen Leaves from Succulents at Stores?

Hey everyone! I'm curious about the etiquette surrounding collecting fallen leaves from succulents at stores. Is it considered okay to pick them up, or should I ask permission from the employees first? I'm totally new to this, so I appreciate any tips you have!

If you're at a big box store, I say go for it! The employees usually don't mind. With small nurseries, it's polite to ask first. Plus, it might feel a bit awkward to just take something without checking.

I've asked for permission at big box stores before and they typically say yes. Just keep in mind to only take the leaves that have actually fallen off the plant—never anything from a living plant. As for local nurseries, it's better to skip collecting there since they might be using those leaves to propagate their plants, which could be seen as stealing.

And definitely don’t just grab stuff from gardens!

Honestly, it really depends on your comfort level. At larger stores, those leaves are probably just going to end up in the trash, so I wouldn't feel bad about taking them. It doesn’t hurt to double check with a staff member, though! For smaller shops, asking permission is definitely the way to go.
