I currently have four MI sliding windows that are less than eight years old, and I'm experiencing some significant issues. One window is filling up with water, another has condensation between the panes, and the other two are leaking cold air. I've had good luck with the other MI windows that are standard double-hung but now I'm wondering if it's just a bad brand or if sliding windows in general are prone to these kinds of problems. Given that two of the windows are large 6-foot spans and the other two are smaller basement windows, I feel like sliders might be my only option for replacements. Any thoughts?

It sounds like a few of your issues might be due to clogged weep holes, especially if one of your sliders is filling with water. Make sure to check those! As for the condensation, that typically happens when the seal around a double-pane window fails, which can allow moisture in. Sliders can indeed allow more air infiltration compared to other types of windows, so it's not uncommon to have issues. Given the age of your windows, that condensation one might still be under warranty, so check that out!

Thanks for the tip! But why would there be water between the panes, especially since that window is right under a soffit with a 2-foot overhang?
