I'm trying to decide between two DeWalt drill kits. Home Depot has the DCD1007WW1 kit for $299, while Lowes offers the DCD1007 base tool along with a free DCD208 battery for $249. I'm curious if the difference in batteries, specifically between the DCB1208 and DCB208, makes the WW1 kit a better deal. I already have the slower charger from my DCD793 kit. This is mainly for home use rather than professional work. I got the DCD793 to help me tune my skis, and it works perfectly for that. The DCD1007 will replace my old Hilti drill that doesn't hold a charge anymore, and I plan to use it with a smaller auger for digging holes in the yard. I'm not sure if the DCD793 would handle that task well enough.

Honestly, I’d spend the extra $50 for the DCB2108 8Ah PowerPack to really maximize your drill's performance. A few months back, they had the DCD1007WW1 for $299 at Home Depot and included an extra battery, which I think was a pretty solid deal. But for home use, you might not notice a huge difference. Speaking of ski tuning, have you checked out the roto brush kit on racewax.com? It’s a bit pricey at $166, but I’m tempted to get it myself since I'm tired of manual brushing!

The DCB2108 battery has more power, runs cooler, and lasts longer since it’s tabless. Whether you need that additional power or runtime really depends on your specific needs. Also, keep an eye out; the PowerPack battery often goes on sale for around $89-99! Just saw it on sale the other day!
