What’s the best way to install a concrete equipment pad for my pool pump?

I'm looking to install a concrete equipment pad for my pool pump and filter, but I'm not sure what to put underneath it to ensure it stays flat and level over time. Should I use gravel, sand, or something else? Any tips on how to prepare the ground would be appreciated!

Another simple method is to just tamp the ground flat and place the concrete pad directly on the dirt. It might work well since you're using a premade pad and keep it easy. Just ensure the area is clear of debris beforehand!

Thanks for the tips! I prefer the premade pad for flexibility, so leveling the ground seems like the best way to go.

For your equipment pad, a solid approach is to level the ground first, then dig down a few inches to add some crushed gravel. Just level it out, tamp it down well, and place the preformed pad on top. This should provide stability and keep it level for a long time!
