I'm looking to buy a new impact wrench and I've come across two different battery options from vendors. I can either get one standard 8Ah battery or two of the newer 1.7Ah batteries. I already have some batteries that work with this tool, so I'm curious about which option gives me more value for my money. What do you all think?

I personally prefer to stick with batteries no larger than 5Ah for my impact tools, and I think the lighter 1.7Ah ones work just fine. I’ve had a 1.7Ah battery for quick jobs, and it hasn’t let me down yet. For the average DIYer, those two smaller batteries should be more than enough unless you're using them all day on heavy tasks.
When you’re using impact wrenches, you're usually working for short bursts. The 1.7Ah batteries are smaller and lighter, which is a plus. Plus, with two of those, one can be charging while you use the other, so you'll have decent overall usage. Overall, I think they might be the better choice for most casual use.
I’ve been using the newer 1.7Ah batteries, and they work great. I find the old 8Ah battery to be pretty clunky and not as efficient. If you’re working on stubborn bolts, having the higher output from the new ones can definitely help, but generally, I wouldn't want to deal with the bulk of an 8Ah. They tend to get heavy.

Thanks for that insight! I do have some bigger batteries, so I'm leaning toward the smaller ones since impacts don’t require intense power.
