How Can I Remove Dowels that I Used to Hide Screws?

I recently attached some shelves to a trolley and covered the screws with dowels for a cleaner look. Now, I think I might have made a mistake because the dowels are glued in, and the alignment seems off. What's the best way to remove the dowels without having to drill them out completely?

Another suggestion is to use a Forstner bit to drill out the dowels. These bits are great for clean cuts and shouldn’t damage your trolley.

One option is to use a drill bit that’s just slightly smaller than the dowel. This way, you can carefully drill out the center and then pick out what's left. It's a pretty handy trick!

Thanks! Good idea to use a smaller bit!

You might want to try a hole saw that’s larger than the dowels. It could make the removal process easier by cutting around them rather than through.
