My Son Watered Our Tropical Plants with Soda—Will They Be Okay?

I have several tropical houseplants, and my son accidentally watered them with soda today. I'm really concerned about their health. Is there anything I should do to fix the situation or increase their chances of survival?

Yeah, for sure change the soil and rinse out the roots. Soda might be a fun drink, but it’s not great for your plants. Better safe than sorry!

It really depends on the type of soda. Some tropical plants might handle it better than others, but I wouldn't take my chances! It's best to flush the soil with water as soon as possible. Soda can get sticky and acidic, which can lead to mold problems down the line.

I’d recommend replacing the soil entirely. It’s safer to rinse off the roots and start afresh. Leaving any soda in the soil is just asking for trouble, and you might end up with pests like ants.
