DIY Solutions for Powering 240V Appliances Without Access?

I've been researching some innovations in induction cooking, particularly one that integrates a battery to run off a regular 120V outlet. These units cost about $5,000 and come with a 5kWh battery. I'm curious if there's a way to replicate this on my own. Is it practical to create a DIY setup for appliances like a dryer, or would it require too much space?

You could likely recreate a setup similar to that battery-powered induction cooker for around $3,000 to $4,000 using quality gear. Just keep in mind, it does take up quite a bit of space. For a dryer, I’d suggest looking into heat pump dryers since there are plenty that run on 120V. They're a more budget-friendly option than a full inverter and battery combo.

That’s true, but heat pump dryers can take longer to dry clothes and they don’t make them as warm. If you let your clothes sit too long, they’ll wrinkle, which has been a hassle for my family! Still, if you’re handy, building your own battery and inverter setup could be interesting, just be ready for the extra space it requires.
