Best Power Tools for a Part-Time Handyman

So I've somehow found myself working as a handyman after years of doing DIY projects. My skills have led to some jobs for friends and family, and I'm looking to upgrade my power tools. Currently, I'm using a mix of cheaper brands like Titan and Parkside, but now I need recommendations for solid, reliable tools that won't break the bank. I want to stick to one brand to simplify battery management. I work part-time, but when I'm busy, I can handle some long shifts, so I need the tools to be dependable. I'm looking for a list of essentials including an 18v combi drill, impact driver, multi-tool, circular saw, SDS drill, jigsaw, a battery mini-vac, and a good multimeter for basic electrical testing. Any suggestions?

I've switched to DeWalt's 20v series, and I can't recommend them enough. Their batteries are top-notch, and they have a fantastic range of tools. I felt Milwaukee had a ton of variety too, but DeWalt has been my go-to for professional work. If you're doing handyman jobs, you’ll find that DeWalt's price point is much more reasonable and still delivers great performance.

You might get some pushback, but for your needs, brushless Ryobi tools really are excellent. They’re much cheaper than top-tier brands like DeWalt, and they've got a strong lineup of tools, especially outdoor ones that use the same 18v batteries. Just always go for brushless motors when you can!

I've been using Ryobi for over a decade, and I planned to switch to Milwaukee once my Ryobi breaks, but I haven't had any major issues yet. I used Ryobi tools for apartment maintenance before moving to a job that provides tools. For my home arsenal, they're great! Milwaukee tools are fantastic at work, especially their core range of drills and saws. Just a heads up, some of their other tools don't impress me as much, like their drain snakes.
