Is My Concrete Driveway Failing Already?

I've noticed some concerning issues with my concrete driveway, which was done less than a year ago. It's got these strange crater-like divots all over, and I'm really worried something might be wrong. We hired a highly reputable contractor with over 40 years of experience and paid a good amount for this job, around $25k. We even checked out some of their past projects, including ones that are over 10 years old, before making our decision. We don't use any salt, just sand for winter, and we avoid metal shovels to preserve the surface. Since the pour in July, I've counted over 50 of these craters scattered across the driveway, porch, and walkway. What could be causing this?

It sounds frustrating! When you talked to the contractor, did they have any initial ideas? Sometimes they can spot issues right away, or have a theory based on other projects. Have they scheduled a visit yet to assess the damage? It's essential to get their insight, especially since you invested so much into this.

They haven’t visited yet, but they did mention that the craters could be due to shoveling or maybe road salt from tires. If that’s the case, it might be worth looking into other protective measures!
