I recently downloaded the PlantSnap app after spotting some mystery plants from swaps and markets. I didn't have high hopes, but I was actually impressed; it accurately identified my plants and provided solid care tips. It even suggested that one of my outdoor plants might have root rot based on its assessment of soil moisture, which is pretty wild if it's true. I'm curious if anyone else here uses apps for plant identification and care, or if this is just a phase? Are they genuinely useful in the long run?

I recently identified a weed in my yard using PlantSnap. I had no clue what it was even after asking friends and trying online tools. But the app nailed it in one shot. It's something that grows quickly and can be used as a cover crop. I ended up pulling it out because I didn't want it overtaking my lawn, though!
I've been using Planta for a while, and while it's great for tracking plant details and care, you do hit a wall without the paid upgrade. I've been tempted to get it, especially since it helps keep all my plant care organized. Just a heads up, if you can wait until Black Friday, I got the upgrade for half off last year!
I tried PlantSnap too, but it mistakenly told me my syngonium aurea was a birch tree. ? So, I switched to Google Lens, which has been much more reliable for me!
