Is it Possible to Dethatch a 1/4 Acre Lawn in Just 60 Seconds?

I recently hired landscapers who charged me $200 for dethatching my 1/4 acre lawn. However, I found out that they were in my backyard for only 60 seconds, according to my security cameras. Is there any way to properly dethatch a lawn that size in that short amount of time?

It's definitely not normal for a dethatching job to be done that quickly. Plus, if they didn’t haul away any debris, that’s a big red flag that they didn’t do their job properly. I recommend checking your lawn for any signs of thatch before contacting them.

Honestly, it's pretty unlikely they did a proper dethatching in just 60 seconds. Even if they had a commercial machine, you'd still need more time to really cover that much ground. If the lawn looked the same afterwards, they probably just went through the motions without actually doing the work.

Yeah, I've done dethatching before, and it usually takes much longer than that. You can't even walk around a 1/4 acre lawn in 60 seconds correctly, let alone do any proper dethatching. If there's still a lot of thatch afterward, it sounds like you might have been scammed.

Should I check for thatch myself to see what it looks like? I'm kind of worried I paid for nothing.
