Need Help Choosing the Right M18 Impact Wrench

I'm looking to buy a high torque impact wrench for some heavy-duty work on my truck, but with the new 2025 models out, I'm a bit confused. I was originally set on getting the M18 2864 with a friction ring that can handle 1,200 ft-lb, but I've noticed that the 2025 models are similarly priced and seem to be stronger. Can anyone help me figure out which model would be the best match for my needs?

Honestly, don't stress too much! My M18 Fuel is about 8 years old and covers 95% of what I throw at it. These new models might boast higher torque ratings, but for most DIYers, it's really just a numbers game. You probably won't need all that extra power for your truck.

The M18 2967-20 high torque impact wrench with a 1/2" friction ring would be a great fit for your needs. It handles pretty much everything for typical heavier duties. If you’re considering larger jobs on bigger trucks, though, look into pneumatic options instead, especially if you're working on a semi-truck. An Ingersoll Rand gun with a good Milwaukee compressor could be worth it for those cases!
