I'm replacing my sink and got quotes from three plumbers, but they vary widely. The countertop contractor will install the sink, so I'm just looking for plumbing work. Here's what I need done: installing a new garbage disposal (with power connection), replacing three shutoff valves under the sink, connecting a customer-supplied faucet, adding or reconnecting an air gap for dishwasher drainage, and reconfiguring the drain system for the new layout. The quotes I received are $1,100, $1,800, and $3,000. Only the $3,000 plumber came out in person, and it seemed really high—he even tried to pitch me a water filter I wasn't interested in. What do you think about these quotes?

You’d be surprised, but with a bit of help from YouTube and some trips to the hardware store, you can do this yourself for way less than the lowest bid! Just make sure to check your local plumbing codes before diving in, though.

True, but I’m a bit hesitant. I've done some simple stuff like replacing angle stops and a garbage disposal, but I'm worried about the piping since the layout is changing. I’d prefer hiring a pro to keep the kitchen reno on track.
