My DeWalt 845 impact driver just gave out after a year and a half of heavy use. I was never completely sold on it since it overheated quite a bit in hot weather. Thankfully, my backup 887 has been a champ for over twice as long. I want to find a solid replacement that's speedy and durable, ideally on the lighter side since I'm often carrying it around. What DeWalt impact driver is the best option right now?

Yeah, the 860 is really the only heavy-duty option they offer. Everything else is more on the standard or light-duty side. If you need something that can take a beating and handle tougher jobs, you won’t go wrong with the 860.
If you’re looking for something tough, the DeWalt 860 is the best heavy-duty impact driver they have right now. It’s designed for serious work and has way more power than the 845. It's about the same size and weight as the 887, maybe a bit shorter. Definitely worth considering if you need speed and durability.
