I've been battling slugs and snails after a dry spell in Germany, and they've wreaked havoc on my plants, especially the zucchini and peppers. A significant portion of them are already destroyed after just one night! I'm planning to set up some beer traps tomorrow, but I'm not too hopeful. Any suggestions or strategies that have worked for you?

Have you tried wrapping copper tape or mesh around your plant stalks? It creates a barrier that reacts with their slime and deters them from crossing. I’ve been using it alongside Sluggo, but I haven’t been able to see its full effect yet since I also have an issue with earwigs.
I recommend using Slug B Gone pellets. You sprinkle them around your plants, and the slugs will munch on those instead of your veggies. Though honestly, if I were a slug, I’d probably go for the beer traps too!
Sounds like you’re really dealing with a slug army! I noticed the same thing here in Scotland after a dry spell. If you can, try using nematodes—they target slugs specifically. If that’s not an option, you can patrol your garden at night with a flashlight and pick them off manually. Also, try to eliminate any hiding spots by clearing debris, as it makes your garden less inviting to them.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into nematodes and see if I can find some locally.
Great ideas! I’ll definitely be out torch in hand tonight!

Haha, good point! I'll pick up some pellets next time I’m out!
