I've got a rigid dryer vent that stretches about 20 feet, and I just realized I haven't cleaned it since I moved into my house three years ago. I recently got an LG dryer, and now it's showing a "D80" error code. I learned that I really should have been maintaining it on a yearly basis. I talked to a couple of pros, one said it would cost around $130 to clean it, while another suggested replacing the entire vent for about $350. Given that I've ignored it for so long, is cleaning sufficient, or should I go for the replacement?

It might also depend on what type of vent you have. Is it a rigid metal pipe or a flexible hose? Just checking the materials can help figure out if cleaning is the best choice or if a replacement is warranted. And remember to check the photos in the post for reference!
I had a similar issue with a long dryer vent that ended up really clogged. We grabbed a cleaning kit from Home Depot, and it took some time, but we pulled out so much lint it was crazy! Once we cleaned it, the error disappeared. I’d say it’s worth paying for someone to do it if you don’t want to spend hours on it yourself.
Honestly, just get it cleaned. You can even DIY it if you want! Stores like Lowe's and Home Depot sell cleaning brushes for around $30. You don't need to replace the whole vent unless it's damaged or completely blocked.
That's what I was thinking too. Replacing it feels unnecessary if cleaning would solve the issue.

It’s a rigid metal pipe, and I posted some pictures to give a better view.
