I recently bought a cubic yard of "vegetable mix" from Soil3, but it turned out to be mostly just compacted top soil with some anaerobic chunks. I'm really worried that I just wasted $200. Is there any way to salvage this mix, or am I just out of luck?

For that amount, I'd suggest adding a large bag of perlite and a few bricks of fluffed coco coir, then mix it well to see how it retains moisture. If you're looking to really enhance it, consider adding some fertilizer like Triple Super Phosphate and maybe some worm castings. Let it sit in the sun for a week to really work it out! It all depends on what you plan to grow, but a living organic approach can work wonders.
You might want to try mixing in some peat moss or coco coir along with some vermiculite or perlite, plus a bit of compost and manure. If you're using it in the ground, you can skip the vermiculite and perlite. Just get creative with it!
Their site says it's composted humus, which is great for gardens, but I doubt it's as good as they claim. Compacted top soil isn’t ideal for your plants. You could consider making a compost pile with it and use it next year. Adding worms could help speed up the process!
I thought about using it as a worm pile, but that won’t help me this year. It definitely smells bad, kind of like my tumbler does when it gets clumpy.
