I'm designing a workbench that doubles as a router table in my small workshop, and I've settled on a width of 4 feet and a length of around 70 inches. While I have my reasons for choosing the 4-foot width, I'm open to suggestions. The setup will resemble a cornhole board, with the router lift positioned at one end. Since I'm new to using a router table, I'm curious if having it 4 feet wide will limit my accessibility, especially since most router tables I've seen are about 3 feet wide. Would this wider design be okay or could it complicate things?

I've got my router set up on an outfeed table that's about 4x8 feet. The router is in one corner, and I have a good amount of space on one side and less on the other. Honestly, I haven’t encountered any downsides. Just wish I had more space on the shorter side!
If you have a table saw with a wing extension, that might be a better option. It saves you the hassle of clearing off your workbench just to use the router, which can be a pain in a tight space.
I don't have a wing extension due to space constraints in my shop, unfortunately.
