I'm looking for recommendations on free CAD programs to help design a closet shelving unit. I'd love to incorporate some cubbies and shelves into the design, so I need something that's easy to use but still offers some advanced features. I have a decent understanding of computers, so I can handle a somewhat complex program if necessary. Any suggestions?

I've been using SketchUp's free version—it's pretty user-friendly. The downloadable version is still available, and if you're open to cloud-based tools, the online version works great for most users!

Totally agree! The free desktop version is called SketchUp Make. It's got a bit of an outdated feel, but it's one of the easiest 3D CAD tools to get started with. I've also been using Fusion 360 for PCB design and plan to switch to it for woodworking eventually. Just need to find the time!
