Hey everyone! So we have this indoor pool that's got a really vibrant, tropical vibe thanks to the previous owners' choices. The walls are T-11 on 2x4s with a vapor barrier and insulation, plus exterior siding, and the ceiling is made of marine-grade painted plywood. We're aiming to give it a wood plank look and are considering flagstone for the pool decking—all while keeping an eye on our budget.
I'm thinking about either buying 75 sheets of plywood and ripping them down to faux planks (which sounds super time-consuming) or going for cedar fence pickets instead. The plan would be to TYVEK wrap the walls and ceiling for extra moisture protection before laying down the pickets. I'm also considering staining the cedar and then applying epoxy to protect against humidity and rot.
I know that cedar fence pickets won't be perfectly milled and can look a bit rough, but I'm wondering—am I completely losing it by thinking this could work?

I don’t think it’s a bad idea at all! But have you considered using tongue and groove cedar planks instead? They’ll hide the nail holes better and will probably be easier to align. Plus, staining and epoxying would be a smoother process too!
