How Can I Install Ceiling Curtain Tracks Without Drilling?

Hey everyone! I just moved into a new apartment in Chicago that has these gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows. I want to install ceiling curtains because the blinds aren't my style, plus I love the look they give. However, the leasing office told me I can't drill into the ceiling because there are tension wires, and doing so could lead to serious issues. I'm a bit skeptical about how accessible those wires really are. Has anyone dealt with a similar situation and come up with successful solutions for installing ceiling curtain tracks without drilling?

It sounds like you're in a bit of a bind! They can be strict about drilling, but there are definitely ways around it. Have you considered using adhesive hooks or track systems that don’t require drilling? Something like 3M strips could work if the weight isn’t too much. You could also look into tension rods that can fit in between the window frames – they’re great for temporary setups! Good luck!

Yeah, I’ve done something similar in my last place. Those tension rods are a lifesaver! Just make sure you measure the width of your windows accurately.

I totally understand where you're coming from! One thing you might want to try is to get a professional to scan the ceiling first. If it turns out that drilling is safe, you might get the green light from your leasing office. Otherwise, there are some compelling options out there. Check if there are ceiling-mounted tracks that use a mounting adhesive – they can hold a decent amount of weight and won’t ruin your ceiling. Definitely worth exploring!

That’s a great suggestion! I’ve heard of people using those types of tracks, and they seem to work really well without the mess of drilling.
