I've heard a lot about using antique drawknives, but honestly, I'm not super impressed with my old Witherby. I'm interested in exploring modern options, preferably something more upscale—my budget is around $300—and I'd like it to be made in the USA. I'll be primarily using it for chairmaking. I've already come across Barr, Lie-Nielsen, and Jason Lonon in my research. I love my other Lie-Nielsen tools, but it seems they haven't had drawknives available for a while. The same goes for Jason Lonon; I've read mixed things. I know Barr has a solid reputation, but I haven't found much feedback specifically about his drawknives. Can anyone suggest other high-quality modern makers?

I've tried the Lonon drawknives and they're quite nice. Barr is solid too, but if you're looking for something more vintage, I'd recommend DR Barton. Their 10" model is the best I've used, and you can often find a good one with a bit of searching.
I'm not too familiar with Svant Djarv's drawknives, but all my other tools from them are great and reasonably priced. They usually list the forging time on their site, so you can plan accordingly. Also, check out some blacksmiths from Ukraine, like Kharkiv and Strongway; they forge excellent tools too!
You might want to check out Landon at Bastion Head Woodworks. He posts about restocks on Facebook and still makes drawknives. They look pretty nice!
Two Cherries drawknives are decent as well. You can find them on their website; they have a good selection. Don't overlook them in your search!
