Hey everyone! Happy spring! We've just bought a new house and are excited to plan our garden design. We're looking for something concrete to work towards and adapt over time. We got a quote from a landscape architect, and they gave us a price of £6000 for the plans. That seems way higher than I expected—like, six times more! Is this a typical cost? Should I just dive into some gardening books and sketch things myself, or are there cheaper online options available? Any suggestions would be super helpful! Thanks!

Check out local paving suppliers; some offer in-house design services. You can opt for a simple 2D plan, which is usually cheaper than a 3D one. It’s a great starting point, and you can always modify it later as you go along.
It really depends on what you're starting with and how much effort you want to put in. If you've got a general layout in mind and just want to add things like a patio or raised beds, I’d say go for it! You can learn a ton from YouTube tutorials, and while there’s a lot of hands-on work involved, it’ll save you a ton of cash!
I found a local garden designer who created six plans for just £150! She even came to assess the soil and get an idea of what the space needs. I think this is a fantastic route if you're not ready to tackle it all on your own!
That’s true! I’m all for DIY, but sometimes the design work can be tricky without experience.
