Hey everyone! I'm new to woodworking and have only tackled a few small projects. Recently, I decided to work with rough saw lumber since it's more affordable and allows me to explore some interesting wood species. I've had a DeWalt benchtop planer for a while, using the 'sled' technique for squaring boards, but I just scored a jointer that was barely used. I'm trying to get a flat surface on a board that's about 36 inches long and 6 inches wide, but I'm struggling because one edge is down to half an inch while the rest stays at roughly 3/4 inch. I'm wondering if I'm pressing too hard or not enough while passing it over. Any tips?

It sounds like the blades might not be level across the width of the jointer. Plus, check the height of your outfeed table. Watching some setup videos can be super helpful—they really simplify the whole calibration process compared to just reading about it. It can definitely get tricky!
