With my lenient HOA, I'm considering attaching the shade under the roof and having it roll down, but I'm unsure about which product would work best. I'm also toying with the idea of a retractable awning, but I'm not sure what would be compatible with my space. Any thoughts or recommendations?

You might want to try searching for "outdoor solar shades" or "patio shades". I think it’d be pretty neat if it could align with the wall at a diagonal instead of coming straight down, but the straightforward vertical installation would probably be easier to manage.
