How Do I Replace My Sump Pump?

Hey everyone, it looks like my sump pump has bit the dust. Luckily, its job has mostly been to deal with the moisture coming from my AC, but I need to swap it out. I'm totally stuck trying to figure out how to replace it. First things first, how on earth do I get to the pump? I'm also worried about getting the lid back on once I manage to remove it! Why not just try lifting the lid off? It might not be as complicated as it seems!

You might want to check for some YouTube tutorials! They can really help you visualize the process, but I get that many might jump straight to the cap already being off.

I’ve seen a few, but they all just start with the cap removed. I’ll keep looking around!

To get started, move any small pipes or lines out of the way. The lid should just slide upward, allowing you to access the pump better. Also, make sure you have a shopping list ready: you'll likely need a couple of PVC couplers for those pipes if you cut them, a check valve, some PVC primer and glue, and of course, a new pump.

Thanks a lot for the help! I suspect there wasn’t a check valve installed before, which might be why the pump failed in the first place. Previous owners definitely took some shortcuts.
