Hey everyone! So, we've been living in our home for about five years now, and I've noticed that the floor right outside our master bathroom shower has sunk a bit. It's got a nice, even line of sinkage stretching from one wall to the other, which makes me think the previous owner just slapped some caulk over it instead of fixing it properly. We're planning to save up about $12,000 to remodel the entire bathroom next spring rather than just tearing out the shower pan now. Since we haven't actually used the shower, we haven't made the problem worse. It hasn't changed at all since we moved in, and I've been keeping an eye on it for any further issues below, but everything seems sturdy. Just looking for your advice on what you think we should do. We bought the house with the idea of remodeling it anyway, so we got it for about $20K less than it was worth. Here's a link to see what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/a/OLMw86E

Honestly, if you're okay with waiting, that sunken floor should hold up for a while. I know someone who had a similar situation, and they're still using their bathroom normally even after 22 years! Their issue was a bit worse with the corner tile falling through, but they saved the money and just dealt with it. If your moisture meter is dry, I wouldn’t worry too much. Just make sure you find the right contractor when the time comes!

Yeah, the moisture meter reading dry makes me less concerned too. I think I might have found a good contractor on Reddit too! And then there’s the issue of it being an eyesore, especially since we don’t use that shower anymore.
