I live in a typical western stucco home in California and I'm trying to figure out how to securely attach a flag to my exterior wall. The flag has metal grommets in each corner, but I'm concerned that using regular nails won't hold it down properly due to the size of the grommets. What methods or materials would work best to keep the flag flat against the wall?

You should probably avoid drilling into the stucco just for a flag. Instead, consider making a lightweight 2x4 frame that can lean against the house. This way, the flag won't be damaged and you can still appreciate it. Plus, it’s easy to put up and take down!
I think there’s no issue with attaching to the stucco. If you're up for it, you could use tapcon screws at the corners to stretch the flag tight. Just add a bit of clear silicone around the screws to seal them and make it look neater!
