I'm building a built-in bunk bed and planning to add stairs to reach the top bed. I've calculated 6 rises at 7.5 inches each and 6 runs at 7.75 inches each, which gives me a total rise of 45 inches and a total run of 46.5 inches. My question is whether this design sounds structurally sound. I used online calculators and noticed they typically suggest one more rise than run. This is my first attempt at building stairs, and I'm aware that standard heights and widths exist; however, I'm intentionally going for a steeper angle for the bunk beds—as my vision is closer to playground-like stairs. I tried finding a reverse calculator to figure out the angle, but I assume it's well below the ideal 34 degrees standard. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Just an FYI, while there's nothing inherently wrong with your design, steep stairs can be tricky. Most people prefer to go down a ladder backward, while steep stairs can make folks face forward, increasing the risk of falling if the treads are too narrow. I have a winding staircase at home where people have tripped on the inside edge. It's something to consider!
You might consider a 'bunk bed ladder' instead of full stairs. It can save space and is easier to navigate for the steepness you're working with.

It looks like your rise and run are almost equal, which puts you at roughly a 45-degree angle. That could be okay if the stairs are just going to service the lofted bed area and don't need to meet conventional building codes. If you want a super steep design, you might want to check out a 'ship's ladder' for some design inspiration. Just remember, it might take some getting used to!
