I'm on the hunt for some really good coarse sand for my plants—something that's well-draining and falls within the 1-3mm range, but nothing bigger than 5mm. I've had a tough time finding the right type of sand. Home Depot mostly stocks general purpose and play sand, which isn't what I need, and their app is pretty useless for searching. Also, I've noticed that Amazon has some products labeled as coarse sand, but they often confuse it with small rocks and the sizes can be misleading. I really need about 20 lbs, and I want to make sure it's suitable for plants. Anyone have any reliable sources or specific brands they can recommend? I'd really appreciate it—this search has been super frustrating!

Check out Etsy seller CaliBonsai, they offer really good coarse sand. It's great for mixing into your potting soil or as a top dressing for your plants. Totally worth it!
I've been using coarse builders sand, and it works like a charm for my plants! Fun fact: we had a cyclone scare recently, so I had sandbags on hand. Now, I just use that sand mixed with perlite and potting mix in my garden—it’s done wonders!
Have you thought about getting construction sand? It’s pretty straightforward and should work well for your needs. If you can find a construction material store nearby, they might have exactly what you’re looking for. Also, river sand could be an option, along with adding some perlite for better drainage!
